April Style Trends:

Ahhh April!  One step closer to summer!!!  Yes!

It’s my birthday this month – I’ve got mixed feelings about that, but it is what it is.  When I turn one year older, I always choose to really look at where I spend my time, what my work is, and ask myself if I am doing enough to contribute positively in my days.  So I have a question for you – when you look back at your life so far, what are the things that you have always felt connected to or had an interest in?  Are you a foodie?  Like to travel? Love music?  I look back at my life and there are several things of course, but one thing I have always loved to do is to wander through fabric stores; to see the colors, the fabrics, the trims and I always contemplated what I would make, what I would design but I quickly found out after buying yards of fabric and trims with grand ideas in mind – I just wasn’t talented in that area.  I tried crochet classes, again with so many plans of what I was going to make and create and then sell on my soon to launch Etsy shop…. That ended with lots of lumpy crochet blobs and the elderly instructor asking me ‘why can’t you get this?’.  Lol!  I couldn’t.  I then moved on to knitting.  Again – huge plans for my amazing creations I was going to complete – and again it ended up with some very comical blobs of knitting.  In all honesty, my lack of loving to sit still most likely came into play to partially contribute to these projects not being completed, and the fact that I just wasn’t good at it…. SO, I will not be opening up an Etsy store any time soon, and I do not have the gift of being an actual clothing designer, BUT because of these ‘failures’ I found what I am good at.  And that is styling others.  I absolutely LOVE shopping for others – men and women – for their life events, their closet refreshes and everything in between.  It is one of my true passions.

I think for all of us in this life journey, we have jobs that are a necessity – it pays the bills we need to pay.  However I think its important to fill some of the spaces in our lives with another job, or hobby -if that’s all time allows- with the life passions we all have.  Trying to achieve balance and also to continue to push ourselves to engage in new endeavors that might be a win, or might not.  But what it can do is lead us down a path that evolves into a really cool adventure.

I take that approach with styling my clients.  Try some new things, try some different looks, different colors, different accessories…. Whatever it is, just try it!

So, for April, an easy way to try something new is in your accessories.  Shoes, belts, jewelry, bags, sunglasses, scarves, ties….. try a different pattern, style or color.  If you change up your look for a day, own it.  You can always go back to your same look the next day if you want. The pics for this month show a few looks and how it changes when you add accessories. Hopefully you will be inspired!

Lots of reflective thoughts for my April blog, but, I think a birthday kinda requires that.  Thank you to all of my clients for the opportunity to style you and for the ones that want to take a step to refresh your look -reach out to me.  I’d be honored to help in any way I can.  It just won’t be a new handmade knitted or crocheted something for you :)
