September Style Trends:
When was the last time you took a long train ride? I am currently on a train from LA to San Diego as I write this; kind of a cool way to travel. It’s a beautiful ride down the coast. As we stop in all these towns along the way, its interesting to see that the way we get to dress and the styles we choose to wear are so different depending on where we all live or where we travel to. I think it is so much fun to see all of those style variances across the country- especially when there is a seasonal shift. That’s what September brings to the table for me in shopping for my clients.
The challenge is – how do we dress from summer into fall? Temperatures can fluctuate and change daily and not be consistent. We start craving soups and chili, scarves and close toed shoes, crisp evenings and turning leaves. However if it’s still 90 degrees outside, what to do?
So if you’re in a warmer climate, seek out colors of fall to add to your look; chocolate browns and burgundy are a few that are perfect. Fall prints like plaids and leopard. These can be utilized in your shoe choice, bags, ties, silk scarves, and even hair accessories. So many ways to incorporate this seasonal shift.
Take a look at the Belting Suiting Skort by Sacai in my Top Picks for this month. You can style this with a fun tee like the one from Bimba Y Lola shown here, or you can pair it with the Boxy Style Button Up by Sacai. Shoe choices are suggested on this slide as well. Just depends on where you’re heading and your weather. I love this skort and the designer is from Japan. Company was founded in 1999. Some really cool pieces in this collection. The tie look for women is very trendy – easy to do with a thin silk scarf like the one from Chanel on this slide. This look was inspired by my recent visit to the Chanel store in Beverly Hills. Love visiting this store! Just gorgeous.
I also want to hi light the Me + Em dress with either the loafer or the ballet flat. This dress is a stunner. Lots of ways to style it –with a blazer or a faux fur short cropped jacket, with a leopard tall boot or a leather coat. Me + Em is a fantastic brand – be sure to check out their fall looks right now.
For my guys I love all the shoes – especially the Dunk Low Basketball Sneaker by Nike and the Harold Penny Loafer by Christian Louboutin in the C 958 Rhea color. Found these at Nordstrom, which has some fantastic representation for fall looks for men right now.
Hopefully you feel inspired for the beginning of your month of September. Possibly inspired to take a train ride –maybe down to San Diego- or to start incorporating some fall colors and textures into your looks regardless of the temperatures in your area. As always, I am here for you to style you for this seasonal shift. It’s time to have fun with your fall style – and also have some chili!
